Police make murder arrest after woman's body found

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a 48-year-old woman was found at a house in Birmingham.

The woman was discovered at a property in Mulwych Road, Tile Cross, just before 13:00 GMT on Saturday.

West Midlands Police said concerns had been raised for the woman's welfare and it was working to establish the cause of her death.

The man, 49, was arrested about 17:30 GMT on Saturday and remains in custody for questioning.

Det Ch Insp Laura Harrison said the victim's family had been informed and were "understandably devastated".

“We believe the woman was known to the suspect and we are not currently looking for anyone else as part of the investigation," she added.

The force said it would be carrying out extra patrols of the area to reassure the community and was keen to hear from anyone in the area on Saturday.
