South West rail line reopens after landslip
- Published
A landslip has been cleared after it blocked a major railway line connecting the south-west of England to the rest of the country.
The track was blocked early on Thursday between Axminster and Honiton and disrupted train services in and out of Devon and Cornwall.
Buses were brought in to replace trains on the affected section of track.
The landslip followed a Met Office weather warning for thunder and heavy rain across Devon, external overnight.
Travellers may be able to claim compensation for disrupted journeys.
Earlier, flooding was reported on the A375 in Sidford, and there was a large amount of surface water on the A380 at Telegraph Hill near Exeter.
"Due to the overnight rainfall across Devon please take care when travelling this morning," said Devon County Council.
"Expect to find areas of standing water and possibly flooding in places."
More than 100 homes were without power in Devon, according to the National Grid.
