Fatal car crash linked to armed robbery

The death of a man in a water-filled ditch has been linked to an armed robbery.

The man was found dead in a car about 15 minutes after a raid at Manea Post Office, in Park Road at about 19:15 BST on Sunday.

Cambridgeshire Police were called to a silver Ford Focus in a ditch about 2.5miles (4km) away in Byall Fen Drove in Manea where they discovered the body.

A 25-year-old man was discovered uninjured close by and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink and drug driving. He is currently being questioned by police.

A police spokesman said: "Officers are linking the vehicle in the ditch with the robbery and investigations continue.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage of the moments leading up to it, should contact the road policing unit."
