Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another man was attacked.

The 46-year-old man was arrested in Middlesbrough after Cleveland Police were called to Laycock Street at about 15:10 GMT on Friday.

A 45-year-old man was injured and treated at James Cook University Hospital before being released.

The suspect remains in police custody for further questioning.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said the it did not believe there was "any risk to the wider public".

Officers remained in the area after the arrest to carry out further enquiries and an appeal has been launched.

Details of the victim's injuries have not been released.
