A fatal crash on the M6 in the West Midlands has forced the closure of the motorway's southbound carriageway.

The collision, shortly before 15:00 BST, involved a lorry and a motorcycle close to junction 10 for Walsall, with the rider confirmed dead at the scene.

The road will remain closed southbound, between junctions 11 and 10, for "some time into this evening", West Midlands Police said.

The M54 is also closed eastbound between J1 and the M6,, external because of the location of the incident, said National Highways.

The lorry driver has been helping officers with their inquiries, police added.
