A man has pleaded not guilty to murder and two counts of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing three people.

Kane Kotwica, 39, of Longford in Gloucestershire, appeared at Bristol Crown Court earlier where he was remanded into custody until his next hearing on 31 October.

He is charged with the murder of 53-year-old Matthew Cainey from Gloucester, who died in hospital after being attacked at a property in Bedford Street on 28 May.

Mr Kotwica appeared in court via video link, where he admitted to possession of a knife in a public place. A provisional trial date has been set for 17 November, and is expected to last three weeks.
