A cyclist is in a critical condition after the bike he was riding was involved in a crash with a car.
The collision happened at about 15:10 GMT on Tuesday on Darlington Road, Skeeby, near Richmond, according to North Yorkshire Police.
The cyclist, a man in his 70s, was airlifted to hospital, while the driver of the silver Renault Modus involved in the crash was uninjured and was helping officers with their inquiries, a force spokesperson said.
Police thanked members of the public who initially stopped and assisted at the scene, meanwhile they appealed for any witnesses to the collision to get in touch.
The road was closed until about 20:30 GMT to allow collision investigation work to be carried out and the vehicles involved to be recovered, the spokesperson said.
