A man has been airlifted to hospital after a vehicle hit a pedestrian.

Emergency services were called to Coombe Gardens in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire at about 07:44 GMT.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "An ambulance, ambulance officer vehicle, rapid response vehicle and the East Anglian Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

"An adult man was airlifted to St George's Hospital in London for further treatment."

Drivers were advised by police to avoid the area as Durrants Lane, which is a busier nearby road, was closed at its junction with the High Street.
