A new community group which provides engineering training has been given a £250,000 grant by the National Lottery.

MPower Cornwall Community Interest Company (CIC) has a technical training centre for science, technology, engineering, maths and construction industry skill in St Blazey.

Chief executive Duncan Mitchell said the grant would help the first intake of entrants, many of who were not in education, employment or training and some who had special needs, to learn skills to help them get jobs in engineering.

He said the team's objective was to "to equip those whom the traditional education system has not served well, with the skills that will help them into well-paid, rewarding jobs".
