A paraglider who went missing in the Lake District has been found with injuries, police have said.

Matthew Thornton, from Oxfordshire, said he was going to attempt to paraglide as far as he could back to Grasmere from the Heron Pike, Great Rigg or Fairfield areas, Cumbria Police said.

Mountain Rescue and the force earlier issued an appeal to find the 34-year-old.

Officers said Mr Thornton had now been found and was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.
