A Christmas market is set to return to a spa town for an extended period following last year’s success, a council said.

Harrogate Christmas Fayre will be held across three weekends, from 29 November to 15 December, with 50 stalls around the town centre, Little Bird Artisan Market and Valley Gardens.

Carl Les, North Yorkshire Council leader, described it as a "popular event" and confirmed it would be longer than in previous years.

"We are delighted that it is returning for 2024," the council leader said.

The first Christmas Fayre was held in 2021 after being set up by the Harrogate Business Improvement District (BID).

“Events such as these make a significant impact for the tourism industry at a crucial time in the business calendar," Les said.

“They bring footfall into town centres as well as attracting visitors from outside of the area to plan their festive break here in North Yorkshire.”

Harrogate BID manager, Matthew Chapman, said the event had helped local and independent businesses.

“The Harrogate Christmas Fayre has been a great addition to our town centre activities," he said.

“We are excited to once again support another festive offering."
