Dairy industry celebrated with set of stamps

The stamps celebrating the island's dairy industry were designed by Chris Wormell

Jersey's dairy industry is being celebrated with a special set of stamps.

The island's postal service said the set of illustrations were designed to celebrate farmers and the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society.

The six stamps, which show the products and processes of the dairy sector, were designed by British illustrator Chris Wormell.

They include hand milking, a portrait of a Jersey cow, a milk churn, a block of butter, a calf with its mother and a milkmaid.

The postal service said Jersey cows were "a beloved part of Jersey's heritage"

Jersey Post said: "The Jersey dairy industry has undergone various changes throughout the years, but something that has remained strong within the industry is the importance of preserving Jersey cows.

"The bovine is a beloved part of the Jersey's heritage and continue to produce rich milk for islanders."

Mr Wormell designed the first two issue of the historical series, 150 Years of Brewing in Jersey in 2021 and A History of Knitting in Jersey in 2023.

The stamps were issued on Thursday.
