Plan for new homes rejected over road safety fears

Morro Partnership planned to build 52 homes on the site off Lightmoor Road in Little Dawley

Council highway chiefs have formally objected plans to build homes on metal recycling site due to concerns over pedestrian safety.
Morro Partnership planned to build 52 "affordable rented" homes on the site off Lightmoor Road in Little Dawley, however, the developer's agents have confirmed the plans have been withdrawn.
The road experts from Telford and Wrekin Council said the lack of pedestrian access to the site could have resulted in residents walking along a "relatively busy" carriageway.
They added that despite recommending the refusal of the proposals, their position did not stop the developer from revising the plans.
The Coal Authority also confirmed to council planners that three mine shafts, all of which "pose a significant risk to surface stability and to public safety", were present on the proposed site.
It added that the coal mining features and hazards within the application "needed to be considered" in relation to the outcome of the plans.
Network Rail had also submitted requirements that the developers would need to abide by.
