Members of a village youth cricket team said they will remember forever triumphing in a national final at Lord's.

Dorridge Cricket Club's under 15s secured a 20 run win over Esher Cricket Club in their age group at the national T20 finals.

Captain Gianlucca Larucci said: "Winning the cup is amazing and so was winning it at Lord's. The lads really enjoyed it. This is certainly a day we will remember for the rest of our lives."

In what the club described as "a first for any Warwickshire league club", Dorridge's under 13s also played their own age group final at Lord's the same day, but lost narrowly to Richmond Cricket Club by three wickets.

Mr Larucci said the under 15s team, who play in the Warwickshire league, started off batting strongly, "struggled a bit" in the middle of their innings, but "went for it towards the end".

"Our bowling attack performed well, and they brought the game home for us. I am really proud of the team," he added.

Head of cricket, Paul Rastrick, added: "They are an incredibly talented team of cricketers, and we are enormously proud to have them representing our club.

"They love the game of cricket, they play it in a very positive style, and this showed in their winning performance," he added.

The u13s were also in action but lost out in their age group final to Richmond

The under-13s team captain James Longworth said his team had loved the "amazing opportunity", despite the loss.

"Obviously, it is a feeling that most cricketers will never get to experience, so to be able to play there at such a young age was great," he added.
