A 29-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving hit a tree.
Thames Valley Police said the silver Toyota Avensis hit the tree on the V8 Marlborough Street in Stantonbury, Milton Keynes, at about 07:00 GMT.
The man died at the scene and the road was shut for several hours.
PC Adam Stevens said: "The car involved was travelling northbound before the collision occurred so anyone who saw the car before the collision should get in touch.
"I am also appealing for anyone with a dashcam who was driving in area at the time to check their recordings and let us know if they have captured anything that could help our investigation."
