Arrest after pedestrian killed in crash

A 62-year-old woman, who was a pedestrian, died at the scene

A man has been arrested after a 62-year-old woman was killed in a crash on Thursday evening.
Police were called to Thimblemill Road in Smethwick shortly before 21:30 BST after a car struck a pedestrian.
The woman was declared dead at the scene and West Midlands Police said they were providing support for her family.
A 35-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink-driving, before being taken to hospital for treatment for non life-threatening injuries.
Police are appealing for anyone with further information which could help with their inquiries, including dashcam or doorbell footage, to come forwards.
