Former airport hangar could become car park

The site could be used for long stay parking

The site of a former aircraft hangar could become additional airport parking if planning permission is approved.
Hangar four at Jersey Airport is currently being demolished leaving the space empty with "no defined use", according to the application from Ports of Jersey.
The area that will be "left as a slab", after the hangar is removed, could be used as long stay parking and hire car spaces, subject to planning approval.
Ports of Jersey said the plans, which also include new cycle shelters and changes to bus and taxi layouts, would increase efficiency and support sustainable habits.
As part of the plans, the bus stop would be moved to the outside of the arrivals building and the taxi pick-up area would be made visible from the terminal.
The application states the removal of the hangar has been "the catalyst to bring forward a wider package of enhancements".
"The increased customer parking, temporary vehicle storage and the new cycling infrastructure will enable safe and efficient operation, increase capacity and improve facilities for users," it said.
