A police initiative is under way in Walsall, where additional resources have been allocated for what has been described as "24 hours of intensive operations".

Dubbed Operation Advance, the activity will see officers target retail crime, dangerous driving and people involved in anti-social behaviour, West Midlands Police said.

Ch Insp Lee Wiggan, who is leading the operation, said: "After months of planning, we will be using all of those resources as an opportunity to tackle issues in the borough."

The operation is a force-wide project that rotates across areas within the West Midlands.

"Walsall is a great place to live, work and visit and we're committed to working alongside our partners to maintain this," Ch Insp Wiggan added
