NHS team recognised nationally for prosthetic work

An NHS team working in prosthetics and orthotics has been recognised nationally for its commitment to excellence.
The Orthotics Team at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust has been shortlisted for three awards at the British Association of Prosthetics and Orthotics (BAPO) Awards that is happening in November.
Orthotists specialise in fitting prostheses , externaland overseeing the full rehabilitation process.
Dr Nicky Eddison, Orthotics Service Manager, said she was "extremely proud" of the team.
"Their dedication to excellence is remarkable, and they deserve all the recognition they are receiving," she added.
This marks the second consecutive year the team has been shortlisted for Best Prosthetics and Orthotics Team.
The three nominations this year are: Best Prosthetics and Orthotics Team 2026, P&O Learner of the Year 2026 - Manuela Mundy and BAPO Hero Award – Dr Nicky Eddison.
As well as working in prosthetics, orthotists also give surgeons advice when they're performing an amputation, help people of all ages with cerebral palsy and arthritis and help prevent patients from needing an amputation through well-fitting splints and complex footwear.
The team have been selected from more than 200 nominations and the winners will be announced on 21 November.
