A festival that sees vintage vehicles race along an East Yorkshire beach returns this summer.

Race the Waves is a tribute to the past when beaches in Yorkshire were used for land speed record attempts.

Cars will perform races in pairs over a 200-yard course on Bridlington's South Beach. Motorcycles will race in groups of four or five.

The event, which is free to attend, was first held in the town in 2018. This year's festival takes place from 12 to 15 June.

Promoters Backfire said visitors to the "family-friendly" event could expect an "incredible atmosphere", while tourism body Visit East Yorkshire describe it as "a unique event within the UK motoring calendar".

A pre-event takes place at Burton Fleming's village hall and event field from 10:00 BST on 12 June.

On 13 June, vehicles will be paraded on Church Green, Bridlington.

Racing will taker place from 10:00 BST on 14 and 15 June.
