A pedestrian hit by a lorry in Birmingham has died.

The crash happened near the junction of the A441 Pershore Road and Watford Road at about 16:40 BST on Thursday.

An off duty doctor tried to help the 53-year-old but he died at the scene, said West Midlands Ambulance Service.

West Midlands Police said the man's next of kin had been informed and were being offered support, and the driver of the lorry was helping with inquiries. Any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage of the collision are urged to contact police.

"This is a tragedy and our thoughts are with the family of the man who sadly died," said Det Sgt Rich Evans.
