Plans for more homes in National Forest fields
- Published
A developer has announced plans to build additional homes on fields in the National Forest.
Bloor Homes was given the green light by Charnwood Borough Council last year to build 200 homes on land off Ingleberry Road on the edge of Shepshed, Leicestershire.
The homebuilder has now unveiled an application for a further 65 houses on fields next to the original plot, which is currently used for farming.
Outline permission for the 200 homes was granted in July 2023, with details relating to that development yet to be approved by the council.
Bloor Homes is promising “extensive public open space” and said residents of the 65 homes would share play facilities due to be built as part of phase one of the scheme.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, borough councillor Birgitta Worrall expressed fears over a pylon which would loom over the planned playground when initial permission was given for the first phase of the scheme.
However, planning officers said National Grid had found the playground’s location to be safe.
Planning documents say the proposed 65 homes would provide “a significant increase in housing choice”.
Bloor Homes said if the 65 homes are built, they would be accessed through the previously-approved development, which will have an access road on to Ingleberry Road.
