A man aged in his 20s has died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed in North Yorkshire.

The crash happened on the A169 Blue Bank in Sleights, near Whitby, at about 18:00 BST on Tuesday, North Yorkshire Police said.

The man, from Whitby, was riding a red Honda CBR 650 and no other vehicles were involved, according to a force spokesperson.

He suffered serious injuries and died at the scene. The road was closed until 02:00 BST on Wednesday to enable an investigation to take place.

Officers have asked anyone who saw the motorcycle before the crash or who has dashcam footage to get in touch.
