A man has been charged with murder after a 20-year-old man was stabbed in Nottingham.

Marley Gascoine, 20, was found fatally injured by police after being called to Abbotsford Drive in St Ann's at about 12:50 GMT on Monday.

Nottinghamshire Police said despite being treated by paramedics at the scene, he died a short time later from a single stab wound to the chest.

Matthew Smith, 20, of First Avenue, in Carlton, Nottinghamshire, was due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

A second 20-year-old man, also arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on bail.

On Wednesday, Mr Gascoine's mother issued a statement on behalf of the family, saying the pain they felt was "indescribable".

She said: "There will forever be a piece of my heart missing.

"A fantastic son and big brother, grandson and nephew, we will all miss you tremendously."

The force added specially-trained family liaison officers were continuing to support the family.
