New solar farm could power 363,000 homes a year

Residents have been invited to comment on plans for a new set of solar farms said to generate enough energy to power 363,000 homes.

High Grove Solar Farm is set to be located across parts of Breckland, near Dereham and Swaffham, in Norfolk.

The firm behind the plans, RWE, launched an early consultation period which will run to 18 October, to allow people living near the site to provide feedback.

Via their website, RWE said High Grove was currently at a preliminary design phase, and consultations, where appropriate, "could influence the design of the project".

The High Grove site is a solar and battery storage project aimed at providing 720MW of clean energy.

It would be distributed across five proposed development areas in Norfolk, about 1.5 km (nearly one mile) southwest of Dereham, 2km (1.25 miles) east of Necton, and 2km north of Watton.

There will be a number of public events during September and October and a further round of consultation will follow in early 2025.
