Free parking for High Peak Christmas shoppers

Pay-and-display car parks in Buxton and other locations will be free on selected days throughout the festive season

A council is offering free parking in the Peak District to boost support for local businesses in the run-up to Christmas.
High Peak Borough Council said it was offering free parking in its pay-and-display car parks on Saturdays throughout December, and on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
The authority has also offered free parking for Christmas lights switch-on events in Buxton, Glossop and New Mills.
While parking is free, the council added other restrictions would apply, such as how long you can park for.
The move means parking will be free on 6, 13, 30 and 27 December.
Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, responsible for tourism and leisure, said: "I hope this gesture by the council will encourage everyone to make the High Peak their destination of choice for shopping, socialising and enjoying the spirit and traditions that make the build up to Christmas such a special time of year."
