Man killed as car hits tree and catches fire

A man has died when his car hit a tree and caught fire in a Surrey village.
The crash happened on Elmbridge Road, between Horsham Road (A281) and Hewitts Road, in Cranleigh, shortly after 21.30 BST on Friday.
The driver, who was in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been informed.
The section of road was closed for several hours while officers carried out their inquiries, but has since reopened.
Surrey Police is urging anyone who may have seen what happened, or who might have dashcam footage, to get in touch.
