Police are looking to track down a man and woman who helped two teenage girls in a supermarket.

Following their interaction in Asda, Frome, on 5 September, the girls told a staff member they had been victims of sexual offences the night before.

DC Matthew Morton, of Avon and Somerset Police, said: "We wish to speak to the pair to establish if they have any information that could be relevant to an ongoing investigation."

A 17-year-old boy was arrested in relation to the incident and released on bail while investigations continue.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police explained the woman was approached by the teens in the female toilets at some point between 09:30 and 11.30 BST.

They asked her to fetch a member of staff, which she asked the man to do. After doing so, the adults left the supermarket together.

DC Morton added: "After they left the store, the two girls disclosed to a staff member they had been victims of sexual offences in another part of town overnight.

"We are keen to talk to the two members of public who helped the girls on that day to establish what information, if any, they may have that is relevant to this criminal investigation.

"CCTV images have been found showing the two individuals, which we appreciate are of low quality, but we hope they may jog the pair’s memory."

He said the girls were being given access to support services.
