A teenage boy and a woman have been arrested as part of an investigation into the suspected sale of home-made pyrotechnics on social media.

Northamptonshire Police said the boy, 15, and the woman, 38, both from Corby, were being questioned on suspicion of possession of an explosive substance for an unlawful purpose and selling reportable explosive precursors.

Searches were being carried out at an address on Whitworth Avenue.

Ch Insp Carl Wilson said "I appreciate the concern that people may have over an incident of this nature", but the investigation was "not currently being treated as terror-related and we do not believe there is any risk to the wider community".
