Tusla, the Irish state agency responsible for child welfare and protection, said it will not make an internal review of its interactions with Kyran Durnin's family public.
Kyran was reported missing at the end of August but last week gardaí (Irish police) said the boy is now "presumed dead" and they launched a murder investigation.
Detectives believe the child may have been killed more than two years ago, when he was aged six.
Searches took place earlier this week, external, at a private property at Emer Terrace in Dundalk, County Louth, where the family lived until May 2024, as well as adjoining land.
RTÉ reported that a spokesperson, external for Tusla said: "In accordance with standard practice in sensitive situations, and in the context of the live investigation by An Garda Síochána and the highly sensitive nature of the personal information involved, the review cannot be published at this time."

The agency also said that while Kyran was not in its care, it had engaged with him and his family. Last week, it opened an internal review into its interactions with Kyran and his family.
Information held by the agency on the missing boy was lost in a cyber attack.
Tusla said the system affected by the attack "was not the system of record for case notes" and was not relevant to the internal review by the agency into its interactions with Kyran's family.
