A 12-year-old girl has been seriously injured in a suspected hit and run, Humberside Police said.

The force said it received reports that a white Mercedes collided with the girl as she crossed County Road North in Hull, close to the Priory Road junction, at about 15:10 GMT on 14 December.

The girl was taken to hospital and treated for serious leg injuries.

Police said the driver reportedly fled the scene and they are now appealing for them to come forward, and are also asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch.

Police also thanked bystanders at the scene for coming to the aid of the injured girl.
