A man who died three weeks after being punched in the street has been described as a "devoted father" who was "warm and full of life".
Simon Beston, 55, was injured on Saint Andrew's Street in the China Town area of Newcastle on 26 July at about 22:30 BST.
He died in hospital on Saturday due to serious injuries sustained when he was punched in the head and fell to the ground, Northumbria Police said.
Five teenagers were arrested and released on bail.
In a statement, Mr Beston's family said he was also "a loving son and a proud grandad".
"His legacy lives on in the love he gave so freely and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him," they added.
Mr Beston's partner said he was "warm, kind and full of life".
"Even in the simplest moments, his kindness and caring heart lit up my world," she said.
Appeal for witnesses
Police said it was reported that Mr Beston and a woman had been in an altercation with a small group of people when he was then hit.
Det Insp Ashley Loader said it was believed the group had attended Ladies Day at Newcastle Racecourse.
"We are still keen to hear from any witnesses who were in the area at the time who may have information which could assist us with our enquiries."
The force said a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Two other 19-year-old men, a 19-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
