Overnight road closures are planned in Grantham for major improvement works.

Resurfacing of Watergate and High Street will start on 15 September and is expected to take three weeks.

Roads will be closed from 19:00 until 06:00 BST on weekday evenings, with diversions via North Street and Barrowby Road.

District Councillor Paul Martin said the repairs would give the area "a new lease of life".

Karen Cassar, assistant director for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, added: "These repairs will be happening in the very heart of Grantham, so there will inevitably be some disruption.

"We will be doing all we can to keep people moving, including carrying the works out overnight so that daytime travel isn't affected."
