Cannabis worth an estimated £1.6m has been seized during a police raid on a property in Falkirk.

Officers acting on intelligence carried out a search on Abbots Road at about 15:00 on Sunday.

Police Scotland said a cannabis cultivation of 2,500 plants was discovered.

A spokesperson for the force said an investigation was under way to trace those involved.

Det Insp John Currie said the raid underlined the "ongoing commitment" to tackling serious organised crime.

He added: "We will continue to act on intelligence and use all available resources at our disposal to disrupt the production and supply of controlled drugs."
