A drug dealer who sold cocaine from his girlfriend's flat has been jailed.

Dario Spencer was found in bed with his partner when police raided her home in Walnut Place, Lincoln, just before 06:00 GMT on 28 November last year, the city's crown court heard on Thursday.

Spencer, of Belton Avenue, Grantham, pleaded guilty to two charges of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs between 15 July and 29 November and possessing cocaine with intent to supply on 28 November.

The 32-year-old was jailed for three years and nine months.

The court was told he had been caught by an intelligence-led police operation targeting the supply of cocaine in Lincolnshire.

Michael Masson, prosecuting, said police recovered a "golf ball" sized package of cocaine weighing more than 17 grams and £2,080 in cash in three bundles on the floor. A handset was also found related to a "dealer's line".

'Lowest rung of ladder'

He told the court: "This is a drugs trafficking case concerning Class A drugs.

"It was destined for users on the streets of Lincolnshire and for which Mr Spencer stood to profit."

Mark O'Connor, mitigating, said although Spencer was running a drugs line it was very unsophisticated

"Although he was operating a drugs line he was clearly at the lowest rung of a very long ladder and the amounts were small.

"Much of the profit was going to fund his habit and that of his girlfriend."

Mr O'Connor told the court Spencer had not been to prison before and his mental state had been impacted.

Passing sentence, Recorder Luke Blackburn accepted that Spencer was suffering from depression at the time of his offending, but told him: "What you did is so serious that only custody will do."
