City road to remain closed after burst water main

Yorkshire Water has apologised for the disruption in Sheffield city centre

A city centre road in Sheffield is to remain closed for at least a further week after a burst water main caused "significant" damage.
Yorkshire Water said it had repaired the main on Cumberland Street following the burst on Tuesday and would be "bringing it back into service".
However, damage to the road and two adjacent pathways also needed to be repaired before the road could safely be reopened.
A spokesperson for the firm added they anticipated the road would be closed "until at least next weekend" and apologised for the disruption.
Properties in the S2, S3, S6, S7, S8, S10 and S11 postcode areas were left without water for several hours following the leak.
A number of roads in the immediate area were closed to traffic at its height, with a police cordon put in place as water poured from the broken pipe.

Yorkshire Water said the closure length may change "as we create a thorough plan for the repair with the local council highways team", with work taking place "as quickly as possible".
The spokesperson said: "We understand that the closure is disruptive and would like to apologise to everyone in the area.
"We appreciate everybody's patience."
