Rape-accused Met officer 'very needy', court hears
- Published
A Metropolitan Police officer accused of rape has been described in court as "very needy".
PC Jake Cummings denies three counts of controlling or coercive behaviour, three of voyeurism, two of rape and one of stalking.
The 25-year-old from Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire previously admitted two counts of stalking.
Addressing the alleged victim at St Albans Crown Court, Campaspe Lloyd-Jacob KC for the defence suggested the relationship with PC Cummings was "pretty intense", to which they replied "yes".
Ms Lloyd-Jacob suggested PC Cummings was "very needy" during the relationship, with the alleged victim also replying "yes".
She also put it to them that they had "accepted" the large volume of text messages sent by PC Cummings, to which the alleged victim replied, "yes, I did carry on with him".
In one message read out to the jury, he wrote: "I will kill you with spam, but I love you".
During their relationship, the pair had access to each other’s Facebook accounts and mobile phone passcodes, the court was told.
They also both had a tracking app that allows people to share their location with others.
The jury heard PC Cummings was in possession of six semi-naked photographs of the alleged victim, who told the court consent was not given for them to be taken.
PC Cummings is currently suspended from duty by the Metropolitan Police.
The trial continues.
