Woman seriously injured in hit-and-run crash

The woman remains in hospital with serious injuries, police say

A pedestrian has suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run collision in Scarborough.
The woman was struck by a "silver/grey car" as she was crossing Victoria Road near to the junction with Westborough at about 18:00 BST on Thursday.
North Yorkshire Police said the driver of the car initially failed to stop at the scene, but did later hand himself in.
The force said the man had been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including dangerous driving and failing to stop.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant footage has been asked to contact police.
