Man seriously injured while getting out of car

A man has been seriously injured after he was struck by a car while he was getting out of a vehicle.

The accident happened at about 17:50 BST on Friday in Abington Square in Northampton.

The man, in his 20s, was getting out of a stationary grey Volvo XC90 when he was hit by a grey BMW 3 Series car.

Northamptonshire Police said he was taken to University Hospital Coventry with serious injuries and they have appealed for witnesses.
