Attempted murder arrest after street attack

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a street attack in Derby that left another man in a critical condition.

Derbyshire Police said officers were called to Abbey Street at about 19:20 BST on Wednesday when they found the victim, who was in his 20s, with serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital where his condition remains critical.

The force said the suspect, also in his 20s, was known to the victim and there was no wider risk to the public.

Abbey Street remains closed between Burton Road and Boyer Street.

Officers have appealed for witnesses, information and footage.
