A man was knocked down by a car and forced into the vehicle by the occupants before it drove off, police have said.
Officers were first called about the incident on Blurton Road in Blurton, Stoke-on-Trent, at about 23:00 BST on Tuesday.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was later found, Staffordshire Police said, and his injuries were not thought to be serious or life threatening.
The incident is believed to be linked to a break-in on Lomond Walk, which happened at about 23:30 on the same night.
A police spokesperson said two men gained access to a property and "conducted an untidy search" but nothing was taken.
Nobody was injured but the occupant was "left shaken up", they added.
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage of the area and are on the lookout for a dark-coloured car which was in the area between 22:45 and 23:45.
Anyone who might have CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage of the area at the time has been urged to contact Staffordshire Police.
