The future of a playground in in he west of the Isle of Man remains under consideration, the local authority has said.

Resident Caitlin Dancox had raised concerns over the potential removal of equipment from the Close Caaig playground in Peel as part of a refurbishment.

In a statement, Peel Commissioners said the play area required "major works" and the artificial turf flooring needed to be rebuilt.

However the local authority said it would "continue to evaluate" the options for playground provision in the neighbourhood and no date for the works had been set.

'Safe environment'

Mother of three Ms Dancox said said the potential removal of the equipment had shown "no consideration" for the children who used the space on a daily basis and there had been a lack of consultation with residents.

The play area was a place where the children had a "community" and could "all congregate together in a safe environment".

The local authority said the views of concerned residents who had contacted the commissioners over the weekend "will be taken into consideration" as part of its "evaluation".
