A former police officer has been put on the sex offenders register after sexually abusing a teenager.

Darcy Woods-Broady, 21, abused the girl at a number of locations, including her home and car, while off-duty as a serving police officer.

She was arrested by Gloucestershire Police in March 2023 and suspended by the force.

Woods-Broady, from Quedgeley in Gloucester, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday.

After her arrest, police seized her devices and found messages between Woods-Broady and her victim, as well as images and videos.

She told investigators she had been in a sexual relationship with the victim and knew the girl to be under 16 at the time of the offences.

The Independent Office for Police Misconduct (IOPC) referred a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service in November 2023.

Woods-Broady was charged and pleaded guilty to seven counts, including sexual activity with a girl aged under 16 and inciting a girl aged under 16 to engage in sexual activity.

As well as her suspended sentence and being placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years, she was also made the subject of a five-year sexual harm prevention order.

Woods-Broady had been a police officer for six months when she was suspended.

The IOPC said she did not meet her victim through work and did not commit the offences while on duty.

It added: "We also recommended the officer has a case to answer for gross misconduct and now the criminal case has concluded it will be for Gloucestershire Constabulary to organise a hearing as soon as possible.

"We have been advised that she has recently resigned from the force."
