A man has suffered life-threatening injuries in a stabbing in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Nottinghamshire Police said it was called to Kensington Close at 13:12 BST on Saturday following reports a man in his 40s had been hurt.

Officers said they were carrying out searches to find those responsible and a cordon remained in place while investigators continued their work.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about the stabbing to contact the force.

Det Insp Ian Holmes said: "Our investigation remains in its early stages and we are pursuing lines of inquiry to establish the full circumstances of what happened.
