Airbus workers will strike for 10 days next month, Unite union has announced.

The union, which represents more than 3,000 aircraft fitters and engineers at the company - which has a site in Broughton, Flintshire - said its members voted in favour of industrial action over pay.

The strike will take place over a three-week period from 2 September.

Airbus UK said its priority remains to find a solution together with the union.

Unite members have delivered a 90% in favour of taking industrial action.

It said the strike action will "disrupt production of wings for Airbus's core commercial and military aircraft programmes".

"Airbus is generating billions in profit; workers deserve a fair deal. Our members are simply seeking fairness not favours," Sharon Graham, Unite general secretary, adding that works have the "total support of their union in this dispute".

Rhys McCarthy, Unite national officer, said the pay offer "simply doesn't reflect the money Airbus is making or the current cost of living crisis".

Sue Partridge, Airbus UK's country manager commercial aircraft said the company have made a "competitive and fair" pay offer that "builds on the strong foundations of pay increases totalling over 20% in the last three years and a £2,644 bonus payment made in April this year".
