More than 200 cannabis plants have been seized in Coventry after police carried out warrants in the city.

More than 50 plants were seized at a property in Grangemouth Road and 152 were found at an address in Ernsford Avenue.

A 37-year-old man at the first property was arrested on suspicion of abstracting electricity and producing a Class B drug.

It follows raids in the city last week when more than 500 plants were seized, West Midlands Police said.

Warrants were carried out by the force's gangs and serious organised crime and exploitation teams.

In the Grangemouth Road raid on Wednesday, police found a house had been converted into a cannabis farm, with plants growing in the bedrooms, and the loft had been made ready for more plants in the future.

The energy company was called in to help make the property safe.

Officers who went to the Ernsford Road address found the property had three growing rooms inside.

Plants found in the raid were destroyed and inquiries are ongoing to find out who was behind the operation, police said.

Officers said they regularly carried out warrants at suspected cannabis farms, using intelligence from the public, and urged people to report anything suspicious.

Signs of a possible cannabis farm include frequent visitors throughout the day and night, air vents sealed to prevent heat escaping, blacked-out windows or frost and snow melting unusually quickly from the roof, police added.
