A motorcyclist has died in a crash on the A31 in Dorset.

The crash involved a grey Suzuki motorcycle and a white Nissan Qashqai on the A31 near Wimborne.

Dorset Police said it happened between the Merley Roundabout and Canford Bottom on Wednesday shortly after 08:50 GMT.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The force said his family had been informed.

Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of the traffic unit at Dorset Police, said: "First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the young man who very sadly died as a result of this collision.

"We are continuing to carry out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I would ask any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us."

The force has also urged any motorists with dashcam who were travelling in the area to review their footage for anything of relevance.
