Vandals have damaged a club's rugby posts by pulling them out of the ground and dumping them on the pitch.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers received reports of vandalism at Alexandra Way, in Penzance, between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Posts at the ground used by Pirates Amateurs as well as Penzance and Newlyn clubs were dismantled and thrown in a pile on the ground. Anyone with information has been asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police.

A Facebook post, external from Pirates Amateurs said while the posts had been re-erected, the club was "extremely saddened" by the incident.
