A man has been injured after he was stamped on during an assault in North Yorkshire.

The victim was attacked between 13:15 GMT and 13:45 on Sunday under an archway between Garden Court and The Chimes in Selby.

The suspect stamped on his head several times before running away, according to North Yorkshire Police.

Officers have asked anyone with information to get in touch.

The suspect was described as a slim white man in his early 20s, with short brown hair and approximately 5ft 5in tall (1.65m).

He was wearing a dark puffer jacket and black Adidas tracksuit bottoms, police said.
