One person injured in city centre fight

Police say weapons may have been used in the disturbance

One person has sustained a head injury in a fight involving a large number of young people in Londonderry.

Police believe weapons were used in the clashes in the early hours of Sunday in Artillery Street, in the city centre.

Those involved had dispersed by the time officers arrived but the police said one male was later found with an injury to his head.

"Our enquiries are continuing to determine a motive and who was involved," Ch Insp Cathal Pearce said.

The police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
